The Alley Hair Salon

The Alley Hair Salon, located at 118 South Street, Philadelphia, PA is home to Jeremiah Sisco, girlfriend Kelly and their little dog - Zodiac. Jeremiah is rated one of the best stylists in Philadelphia. He is an artist with his scissors and his girlfriend Kelly is a great stylist also. I knew I would have some interesting visuals to work with because of their hairstyles and style in general. Even Zodiac has his own unique style (see below)

Zodiac was wiped out from the whole ordeal.

By the way, my friend Jamie was nice enough to lend me his Canon 5d Mark II, which is almost equivalent to lending out a newborn. Trust me... I treated it like one.

The camera was magical. I can't stop thinking about it.

Run For Africa

I've been working a project for several months now with a man named James Kerkula. He is originally from Liberia, Africa and we connected through my interest in returning there and my desire to use my photography and journalism in a way that would help a lot of people.  The initial issue will be sent all over the country to raise funding for both the magazine and to build a K-12 school in Liberia. From there it will hopefully support many other businesses and projects while simultaneously raising awareness of world issues. It seems many Americans know little to nothing of what's going on in Africa and other parts of the world. This magazine will strive to remedy that by sharing history, stories and projects. There will be many people involved in fundraising in Philadelphia and throughout the United States, beginning with groups of runners. Sometime this year there will be a citywide run to raise money for these schools and other new developments in a war-ravaged piece of the world.
I'll be writing more on this later.
Here are the four initial images we liked for the cover and I am 90% I am using the first one shown here. I have the title and text almost completed but I'm not completely satisfied with it yet.
I'll be posting the finished cover when it's done

But for now I present to you : James Kerkula

There were a group of teenagers all standing by to get James' autograph. He kept saying "I'm not famous," and no one seemed to believe him.

socialightimage

A couple months ago I started a side company called socialightimage. I'm doing headshots and profile photos for business use, acting, social media. etc. I got it up and running pretty quickly and had a really good response to it. I have a few makeup artists ready to work with me also.
I got very sidetracked with... life. But I'm ready to start it back up again.

Here are a some images I've used to start it up.

Bella

This is my cousin Bella on Easter. She believes there's fairies living in the backyard and was outside searching for them. So cute!

80 years

I recently took photos for a family reunion and 80th birthday at this beautiful Tudor mansion in New Jersey. This woman was amazing. Poised, elegant and witty. I hope I can manage that at 80.
The first is her holding a photo of herself as a little girl.
And some others from the two days I was shooting there..

some recent things.

I decided I should start posting here more as a good way to share and stay connected. I have some catching up to do. Most of these initial posts will be past work but as soon as I'm up to date it will be more current.
